Registration for all summer programs and for volunteers will start May 13, 2013. All story hours and group sessions of the summer reading program clubs will be filled on a first come-first serve basis. Those who are interested in being a "Read On Your Own Member" must also be registered to participate. Preschool programs fill up fast, so you will want to register early. All programs begin the week of June 17th and run through the week of July 26. Click here for program details.

The library is looking for four responsible teens in grades 9 through 12 to help with our Summer Reading Program. This is a temporary internship during the months of June and July. Please read the press release for more information. To apply, please return the completed application form to the Children's Department by May 15.


New "Tween the Pages" youth book club

Book lovers in grades 3 - 6 are invited to join a new book club called "Tween the Pages". There is one group that meets the first Wednesday of each month at 3:30 pm beginning in October. We will meet to discuss books like: Diary of a Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney, The Fairy-Tale Detectives by Michael Buckley, Frindle by Andrew Clements, and Hatchet by Gary Paulsen and many other entertaining, delightful and engaging books. Books will be provided for all participants and each session will last for approximately one hour. A light snack will be provided and the program will feature crafts and various other activities. You must be registered to participate.


Preschool Programs 2012-2013

Registration for preschool programs will begin September 3, 2012, at the library and online. All programs are approximately 30 minutes long and will begin the week of October 8 and continue through May 23, 2013. Group size for all programs is limited, so you will want to register early. Accelerated Reader Search

The Library maintains links to the websites of the Henderson County public schools that provide access to their Accelerated Reader book lists. The Library also includes a link to Holy Name's AR list. You may browse the school's AR list, then search the Library's online catalog from one simple screen. Use the catalog to request books that you would like to check out and the Library will contact you when they are available. AR lists are also available for searching at the Library.



Cool School Tools

The Library provides access to many wonderful resources for children and students who need help with homework or school projects. These resources are available from home to anyone with a valid library card. They are also available in the Children's Department Computer Lab.
