ProofPoint™ is the ultimate proofreading and homework check service that allows students to collaborate with a certified tutor in real time on reports, essays and papers. Using screen-sharing technology, the student and tutor can discuss each edit for a richer learning experience than simply sending off a paper and receiving a marked copy in return.
SkillsCenter™ provides students with a variety of resources to help with everything from schoolwork to taking a citizenship test to writing an eye-catching resume. Tutor.com’s new SkillsCenter has 24/7 access to worksheets, lessons, videos and more. All of the resources are searchable by subject or keyword and rated by the community of students using the materials.
Students can select the most commonly used shapes, formulas and illustrations and drag-and-drop them into the classroom to easily explain their problem to the tutor.
Students can share a file with the tutor and review it together in real time on screen.
Students can choose different backgrounds like loose leaf paper for an English session or graph paper for a math session and use their favorite fonts and emoticons.
Students can choose an avatar and click to animate it during a session to let the tutor know how they’re doing.
After each session, students can replay it as a video, or print out a transcript to record any files, websites or resources used during the session.

Info for students
Here are some tips for getting the most out of your tutoring session:
- Please bring a question to your Live Homework Help® session and get ready to learn!
- The tutors will help you with your questions but they won't simply give you the answers.
- Respect your tutor as you would your teacher.
- Do not use inappropriate language or share inappropriate materials in the classroom.
- If you do not communicate with your tutor for more than 30 seconds, your tutor will think that you have left the computer and he or she will end the tutoring session.
- Live Homework Help® is available en Español for math, science, and social studies every day from 2 pm to 10 pm.

Live Homework Help® Summary
- Live Homework Help® can reinforce concepts that students are working on in their classes.
- Tutors are trained to work with students to help them to arrive at the answers rather than to just give students the answers.
- Live Homework Help® is student-driven. The student asks for help on a particular topic and the tutor works to help clarify the question and to assist the student to understand the topic.
- Tutors are working with students from all over the United States. Tutors do not access curriculum. The tutor will try to get the student to demonstrate how s/he learned to solve a particular problem and the tutor will reinforce that technique. If the student does not know at all how to solve the problem, the tutor will use his or her own methods. As soon as a student indicates that "that is not how I learned it," the tutor will try to get the student to demonstrate how he learned "it" and will again reinforce that method.
- As the Live Homework Help® service is "on demand," students connect with a different tutor each time they log on. They cannot request a specific tutor.
- Sessions are geared to last about 20 minutes. They may be shorter depending upon the question or they may be longer if the student has not yet grasped the content.
- If a student uses inappropriate language in a session, the session will be terminated.
- Live Homework Help® is available en Español for math, science, and social studies every day from 2 pm to 10 pm.
Suggestions for Integrating Live Homework Help® with Math Classes
- Let students know that if they are having any difficulty understanding a concept that you are working on in class, they can log on to Live Homework Help® that afternoon or evening and ask a tutor for help. The student just needs to be able to explain the topic for the lesson and have one or two sample problems. Perhaps you could write on the board the topic for the lesson each day so that students are aware of the topic about which they should ask the tutor for help.
- If students have access to worksheets or lessons on the computer and if the material is in Microsoft Word, the student can share that material with the tutor. The online classroom has a send file feature. The student can send that file to the tutor and they can both work from that worksheet. The student should know however that the tutor will provide guidance but not answers.
- If you would like for students to understand a variety of ways to approach a math concept, you could assign them to log on and connect to a tutor, show the tutor the problem and the way in which they have learned to solve it and ask the tutor to show another way to solve it.
- You can provide "extra credit" for students who connect to a tutor a certain number of times each week. The student can print out the session and bring it in to document that the session took place.
- If you have particular web sites that you would like the student to use, you can ask the student to explore that web site with a tutor. Tutors and students can explore the web site together and the tutor can explain any issues about which the student has questions.
- Live Homework Help® can also be used for enrichment. If certain students would like to pursue math concepts that have not been covered in the classroom, you can assign work on those concepts and have students connect to tutors to explain the material and reinforce the concepts.
