Program Description

Event Details

Bluegrass Music is as Kentucky as its famous fried chicken, bourbon, and horses.  Its reach goes past the borders of the United States and reaches a world-wide audience.  Bill Monroe is credited with the genre and its creation, but even he had to learn the music from somewhere and somebody.  This presentation entitled “High Lonesome Sound” looks deep into the roots and history of the music and the culture that speaks volumes above others in the state of Kentucky.  From its origins overseas, spanning countries, languages, and races, to the hills of the Appalachian Mountains, this presentation will leave its audience tapping their toes and gaining a better appreciation that put the state at the forefront of popular music.
