Thanksgiving Holiday Closing

The library will be closed Thursday, November 27 and Friday, November 28 for the Thanksgiving Holiday. Your online Library is available every day, 24 hours a day, through the library catalog and Online Resources.

Finding a book for your next book club meeting just got a whole lot easier! Check out a Book Club Kit from the Henderson County Public Library and be prepared to have an excellent meeting! HCPL has more than 100 kits available. Each Book Club Kit includes at least 10 copies of each book, with most kits including 15 copies. And many kits also include 1 Large Print copy.

How can I find a kit?

You can see a list of our Book Club Kits by accessing our online catalog. All our kits are listed with information about the book, the number of copies included, and any other items provided with the kit. Printable (PDF) copies of this list also are available: With Book Summaries and Without Book Summaries.

How do I reserve/check out a kit?

HCPL Patrons

  • Fill out the HCPL Patron Online Reservation Form. Please request Book Club Kits at least 1 week prior to the date needed.
  • Book Club Kits can be reserved up to 1 year in advance.
  • Once your Book Club Kit is ready for pick-up, you will receive an On-Hold Notification via your preferred notification method.
  • Then come by the Library and check out the kit just like you would any other item!
  • The Loan Period for local check-outs is 6 weeks.

Kentucky Libraries

  • Only Kentucky Libraries that participate in the KYVL Courier system can borrow HCPL Book Club Kits.
  • Fill out the HCPL Kentucky Library Online Reservation Form. Please request Book Club Kits at least 3 weeks prior to the date needed to accommodate KYVL Courier travel times.
  • Book Club Kits can be reserved up to 1 year in advance.
  • Once your Book Club Kit is ready, it will be sent via KYVL Courier to arrive by the date needed.
  • The Loan Period for Kentucky Library check-outs is 10 weeks.

How do I return a kit?

HCPL Patrons

  • Simply return all contents of the Book Club Kit to the library as usual, and a staff member will gladly check-in the kit.
  • Please do not try to return a Book Club Kit in a drop-off box.

Kentucky Libraries

  • Simply return all contents of the Book Club Kit to the library using the KYVL Courier.
  • Be sure to send the kit back so that it arrives at HCPL by the due date.

Please note that because another patron or KY Library may have reserved a specific kit for the date it’s scheduled to be returned (or shortly thereafter), it is very important you return the kit by the due date.
