Policy Statement:
The Henderson County Public Library is committed to providing a safe, healthy, and welcoming environment for all patrons, staff, and visitors. To promote public health and wellness, the library maintains a smoke and tobacco-free environment.
Scope:
This policy applies to all individuals, including but not limited to library patrons, staff, contractors, volunteers, and visitors, on all library premises and grounds, including library vehicles. The policy covers all types of smoking and tobacco products, including but not limited to:
- Cigarettes, cigars, and pipes
- Electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes) and vaping devices
- Smokeless tobacco (e.g., chew, dip, snuff)
- Any other tobacco products or smoking devices
Designated Areas:
Smoking, vaping, and the use of tobacco products are strictly prohibited inside the library building and on library grounds, including:
- Entrances, exits, and walkways
- Outdoor seating areas, including picnic tables
- Library parking lot
Enforcement:
Library staff are authorized to enforce this policy. Individuals who do not comply may be asked to leave the library premises. Repeated violations may result in temporary or permanent loss of library privileges, as outlined in the library’s Behavior Policy.
